IMSS has granted more than 142 thousand COVID 4.0 permits to insured workers

#InstitutoMexicanoDelSeguroSocial.- Workers insured by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) have processed 142 thousand 16 COVID permits, in its most recent version 4.0, between July 6 and 26 of this year, which generates a document equivalent to a temporary incapacity for work for five days, remotely and without the need to go to their Family Medicine Unit (UMF) of assignment.

Of the total number of permits granted during this period, 66,138 are concentrated in Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Nuevo León and Jalisco.

This digital service is granted to the insured working population, and includes Independent Workers and Household Workers, who present symptoms associated with coronavirus such as cough, fever, difficulty in breathing (dyspnea) and/or headache.

It is not necessary to take a COVID test to process this leave, since the notification of the worker’s general sickness benefit is received directly via electronic means.

In cases in which people do not recover their health by the fifth day, the recommendation is to go to the corresponding UMF or to the Emergency Room for a medical evaluation.
